300 Care Packages for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City | Oakes Auto Group

Every October, the Oakes Auto Group team trades the showroom floor for a volunteer shift benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City. It's one of our favorite traditions of the year, and 2026 was no different.

This year, each of our stores built 100 care packages. That's 300 care packages headed to families who need a little extra comfort right now.

Why Ronald McDonald House matters to us

When a child is seriously ill or injured, the last thing a family should worry about is where they'll sleep or what they'll eat. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City keeps families close to their child and the care they need. They run three Houses next to the Children's Mercy downtown campus, plus a House inside the hospital itself.

Families come from all over Kansas, Missouri and beyond. Some stay a few nights. Some stay for months. Either way, they're spending long days at the hospital, and that's where a grab-and-go snack can make a real difference.

What went into the care packages

We kept it simple and useful. Every package included one of three snack packs:

• Protein snack packs to keep parents and caregivers going through long hospital days
• Breakfast snack packs for early mornings and quick starts
• Kid snack packs for siblings and little ones who need something familiar

Three stores, one goal

Each store hosted its own build day, and every team hit its 100-package goal.

• Oakes Kia in North Kansas City kicked things off on October 6.
• Oakes GMC in Kansas City kept it rolling on October 7.
• Oakes Kia of Olathe wrapped it up on October 8.

Why we keep showing up

Oakes Auto Group is built on three things: transparency, value and relationships. That last one doesn't stop at the people who buy cars from us. It means showing up for our neighbors, especially when they're going through something hard.
